About Me

Roberta Wax is a freelance writer covering a wide variety of topics — everything from parenting and health to business and entertainment. Her articles have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Times Syndicate, Emmy Magazine, United Parenting Publications, Health Trends, Belle Armoire, Los Angeles, RN Times, UCLA Magazine, Animation Magazine, Crafts ‘n Things, and others. She also worked as a reporter for United Press International where she covered everything from earthquakes and wildfires to the Emmys and Grammys.
She teaches news and feature writing through the University of California, Los Angeles, in both the Journalism Extension and the Writer’s Program. She is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors and the Society of Professional Journalists.

Roberta is on the board of directors for the SPJ Los Angeles Pro Chapter, where she has held many positions, including chapter president and chair of the annual awards banquet. She also is the editor of The Full Scoop, the newsletter published by the Journalism Alumni Association at California State University, Northridge.

Her essays — both serious and humorous — have explored parenting issues, girlfriends and a passion for her postman.

On the more artistic side, Roberta has designed projects for several craft publications, including Crafts ‘n Things and The Stamper’s Sampler, as well as for manufacturers who have used her projects in national ads.

Her other work has included writing and editing news releases. As a teacher, she has mentored writing students whose work has been published.
